We know this first hand as it was impossible for us to find financing when we built our first villa, even though we both had high credit scores and a history of success in our business – foreign banks don’t want to deal with collateral in a different country, and Costa Rican banks don’t have the credit information they need on those who haven’t lived in-country for the past ten years.
